The Colorado Department of Transportation began work Sept. 4 to replace a corroded steel culvert under State Highway 145 at mile point 57.6 on Lizard Head Pass.
The old culvert was installed in 1966.
The work will involve replacement of the steel culvert with a concrete pipe, necessitating a cut in the highway and a lane closure.
Motorists will encounter single-lane alternating traffic, likely directed by flaggers during the day and a signal at night, until the highway cut is closed. Then motorists can expect daytime single-lane alternating traffic until the project is completed in October.
