Sierra Celeste Schaak, daughter of David and Regina Schaak and granddaughter of Kay Cox of Cortez, and the late Freddie and Berta Schaak of Pleasant View. graduated with honors from Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely with a degree in dental hygiene. Commencement and pinning ceremonies were held on May 11 in Rangely. Sierra also is the recipient of the Western Colorado Dental Hygienists Award for 2013. Sierra has begun her practice with Dr. Curtis Patana here in Cortez, and she is excited to be back in Cortez full-time. She has previously been employed during the summer months for the Cortez Parks and Recreation Department, and she is currently employed there also. Sierra is a former graduate of Montezuma-Cortez High School and also earned an associates degree in sports management from Mesa State College in Grand Junction.
