Law enforcement has yet to make an arrest after a 21-year-old was shot and killed the night of Sunday, Sept. 15, in Cortez.
Cortez Police Chief Roy Lane said Natalie Hatch, 21, as a result of a shooting that occurred around 10:15 p.m. at Cedar Terrace Apartments.
Quincy Yellow, 18, of Towaoc also was shot at the scene and airlifted to an unknown medical center, Lane said.
A search warrant was executed the morning of Thursday, Sept. 19, at 236 S. Chestnut Street. However, no arrest was made, Lane said.
Early Monday, Sept. 16, police were still canvassing the neighborhood for potential witnesses, but Lane said residents were in no immediate danger.
“There are several people of interest that we’re talking to,” he said.
Lane said it was too early to speculate on a motive, and he declined to comment on the type of weapon used in the incident. Both victims were residents of the apartment complex, he said.
When questioned if police had any potential suspect descriptions, the spokeswoman said no advisories had been issued.
Sunday’s shooting marked the second such incident in four days.
