Thursday, Sept. 5

An officer was parked at Mildred Road and Main Street when he noticed a man standing outside a car at the gas station. The officer knew the man did not have a valid driver’s license. The officer watched the man get into the driver’s seat and drive the car in a circle in the parking lot up to a gas pump. When the officer contacted the man exiting his vehicle he noticed the man had an empty plastic bag in his hand that had a strong odor of marijuana coming from the bag. Two other men were in the back seat of the vehicle, neither had a valid driver’s license and were released. The driver of the vehicle had a revoked license as a habitual traffic offender. There were 15 additional restraints against his driver’s license. He was arrested and got another charge for driving with a revoked license. The owner of the vehicle came to take possession of the vehicle and gave permission for the vehicle to be checked for any other drugs. The officer found less than an ounce of marijuana and a marijuana bong. The owner of the vehicle said the marijuana did not belong to her but that she would keep it and placed it in her trunk.

Tuesday, Sept. 10

An officer was driving west on W. Montezuma Avenue when he noticed a man sitting in the park, When the man noticed the officer he shoved what looked like a spray-paint can into his bag. The officer contacted the man and asked him what was in his bag. The man said there wasn’t anything in his bag. The officer could see silver paint on the man’s lips, on the side of his mouth and all over his left hand. The officer looked in the man’s bag and found a silver spray-paint can. The man admitted that he was “huffing.” The man also had a beer, which the cop poured out. The officer issued the man a summons for possession of alcohol in the park and for an open container. The officer confiscated the spray paint and disposed of it in the Dumpster at the Police Department.

Monday, Sept. 16

An officer responded to Cork n Bottle Liquor Store in reference to an assault inside the store. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a woman about the incident. The woman said she was in the liquor store when she saw another woman she knew come in the store. She said that she and the other woman have had issues in the past. She said the other woman grabbed a beer can walked up to her and hit her in the lip with it. The officer noticed the woman’s lip was bleeding and swollen. The officer went inside with the woman and noticed the beer can sitting on the counter was dented. The officer also spoke with the cashier who had witnessed everything. The cashier told the officer the same thing and also showed him surveillance of the second woman coming in the store and hitting the woman with a beer can. The officer contacted the other woman who had used the beer can; he told her he had her on surveillance, and it showed her hitting another woman with a beer can in the mouth. The woman told the officer to prove it, the officer arrested the woman, and she later admitted that she did hit the other woman in the mouth with a beer can. The woman was arrested for third-degree assault. The woman arrested was also with a male who had a protection order against her so she was also charged for violating a protection order.

Tuesday, Sept. 17

Dispatch requested police to respond to Wal-Mart in reference to a shoplifter. When police arrived a young male was sitting in a chair with his hands over his head. Since the male was a juvenile the officer told the male to call his mother and ask her to come down there. While the male was speaking with his mother the officer heard him tell her that he messed up and took some sandwiches because he was hungry. While the officer was speaking with the male he could smell an unknown alcohol beverage coming from his breath. His mother arrived and the officer explained to them that he believed the male to have been drinking and asked the male how much he had to drink. He told his mother he had a beer to himself. The officer then told his mother that he might have some beer in his backpack; his mother opened the backpack and took out a 12 pack of Coors beer. The officer explained to both the male and his mother that he was going to be charged with underage consumption of alcohol and shoplifting. The male was also given a trespass notice. The male was then released to his mother.
