With winter quickly setting in, the Ute Mountain High School Rodeo Team recently concluded their fall season, which included rodeos in Cortez, Craig and Grand Junction. Below are listed the team’s top overall finishers.
CORTEZ
Pacing the Ute Mountain Team’s barrel racers in Cortez, Cammie Maxwell finished 1st overall in Performance No. 3 with a time of 15.160. Emma Reim was nearly as impressive, finishing 2nd overall in Performance No. 2 with a time of 15.441.
In Breakaway Roping, Whitney Finley paced the team with a fifth place finish in Performance No. 1 (4.890).
Leading the team in Pole Bending was Cammie Maxwell, who finished seventh with a time of 21.498 in Performance No. 1. Not far behind was Madeline Shaline, who finished 12th with a time of 22.798.
Posting one of her team’s top performances of the day, Stormi Pitman won the Girls Cutting in Performance No. 1 with a score of 72. Reim finished fourth in Performance No. 3 with a score of 70.
In the Goat Tying event, Cassie Finley led the team with a fifth place finish in Performance No. 1 (16.550), while Stormi Pitman finished sixth in Performance No. 2 with a time of 10.080.
Tanner Lockhart won Performance No. 1 of the saddle Bronc riding with a score of 74.
CRAIG
Leading the Ute Mountain Team’s barrel racers in Craig, Stormi Pitman finished fifth in Performance No. 2 with a time of 17.907. Shelbi Fullmer posed the team’s second best finish with a sixth place result (17.849) in Performance No. 1.
In the Breakaway Roping event, Cassie Finley finished fourth in Performance No. 2 with a time of 5.910.
Pacing the team in the Pole Bending event, Medline Shaline finished eighth in Performance No. 2 with a time of 23.470. Cammie Maxwell finished 15th (26.827) in Performance No. 2.
In Goat Tying, Stormi Pitman finished eighth (9.620) in Performance No. 1, while in Tie Down Roping, Wyatt Applin finished sixth (27.240) in Performance No. 1.
Tanner Lockhart won Performance No. 2 of the Saddle Bronc event with a score of 68.
Grand Junction
Leading the Ute Mountain Team’s barrel racers in Grand Junction, Shelby Fulmer finished second (16.890) in Performance No. 1. Stormi Pitman finished ninth with a time of 16.823 in Performance No. 2.
In Breakaway Roping, Whitney Finley finished 10th (3.69) in Performance No. 2, while Madeline Shaline finished 13th (6.560) in Performance No. 1.
Stormi Pitman led the team in Goat Tying with an fourth place finish (9.990) in Performance No. 2, while Madeline Shaline posted her team’s top result in the Pole Bending, finishing 11th (23.802) in Performance No. 2.
With their season fall season now complete, Ute Mountain High School Rodeo Team members will take a brief respite before returning to action in the spring 2014.
