Now, we’re going to be subjected to a federally funded study about broadband opportunities, or some such thing? Good thing the feds are paying for it; our local “conservatives” love inflows of money from our bankrupt federal treasury.
And what will be the outcome? Of specific note is the fact that the “study” does not consider the enormous costs of building out infrastructure, nor does it identify funding sources.
Last time, we wound up with a half-baked proposal to load $40 million in taxes on residents, for the promise of fiber to every home, or broadband to every rooftop or something great – and our commissioners were on board!
The only reason the tax initiative didn’t wind up on the ballot was that they couldn’t manage the paperwork!
