City awards $30,000 in grants

Other grants

With funds expected to be released this month, others receiving partial grants include:
Four Corners Office for Resource Efficiency (4CORE) of Durango received a $1,000 grant, a fifth of the agency’s request, for energy efficiency stipends.
Axis Health System of Durango received a $1,250 grant, about two-thirds of the agency’s request, for staffing costs.
Community Connections Inc. of Durango received a $3,000 grant, nearly two-thirds of its request, for its adult services program.
Cortez Cultural Center received a $3,000 grant, three-quarters of its request, for instructor stipends and operational expenses.
Cortez Farmers Market received a $500 grant, a quarter of its request, for musician stipends and salaries.
Good Samaritan Center of Cortez received a $1,500 grant, nearly two-thirds of its request, for food and operational expenses.
Housing Solutions for the Southwest in Durango received a $1,350 grant, two-thirds of its request, for staff support, travel, outreach and marketing.
Montezuma County Historical Society received a $250 grant, a third of its requests, for archival storage and materials.
MoCo Public Transportation received a $2,500 grant, half its request, for operational expenses.
Montezuma School to Farm Project was awarded a $1,650 grant, less than half its request, for the Cortez Middle School garden and staffing.
The Recovery Center of Cortez received a $1,750 grant, about a third of its request, for consultation and treatment services.
Montezuma County Relay for Life received a $250 grant, a quarter of its request, for operational expenses and volunteer training.
Renew Inc. received $3,000, a third of its request, for victim services, transportation and awareness.
School Community Youth Collaborative of Cortez received $500, a quarter of its request, to support a high school leadership program.
Ute Mountain High School Rodeo Club in Lewis received a $500 grant, 10 percent of its request, for expenses.
The city council completely denied grant requests from CASA of the Four Corners, McElmo Creek flume restoration efforts and the San Juan Basin Area Agency on Aging.
