The New Mexico Department of Health will offer free COVID-19 drive-up testing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday and Monday at McGee Park, 41 Road 5568, in Farmington.

The health department is offering testing to these groups:

People experiencing symptoms such as fever, cough, chills or shortness of breath.Essential workers with or without symptoms, including health care workers, first responders, public works employees and grocery store employees.People with or without symptoms who are contacts or household members of New Mexico residents who have already tested positive for the coronavirus.Employees and residents in congregate settings with or without symptoms.Anyone who may have traveled to any area with community spread in last 14 days.While community members wait for test results, it is recommended they follow these guidelines:

Cover mouths and noses with a cloth face covering when around others.The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.

Continue to keep about 6 feet from others. The cloth face cover is not a substitute for social distancing.Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after being in a public place, or after nose blowing, coughing or sneezing.If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry.

Avoid touching the eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.Negative test results are not a reason for people to let down their guard. It is critical that each person continue to follow all recommendations for social distancing and initiate self-isolation if becoming sick.
