Farmers and ranchers in Montezuma, Dolores, San Miguel, Archuleta and La Plata counties may be eligible for low-interest emergency loans to help cover losses they sustained as a result of the effects of drought conditions according to Rick Cervenka, senior farm loan officer with the Farm Service Agency.
“Any farmer or rancher in that category who is interested in a loan should visit the Farm Service Agency county office as soon as possible,” Cervenka said. They must apply within the timeframe that the disaster designation allows for that county. No applications may be accepted after that date.
