Montezuma-Cortez, Mancos, Dolores and Dove Creek took their high school track and field teams to Farmington, N.M., on Saturday to compete at the 15-team Piedra Vista High School Invitational.
The meet was made up of Colorado and New Mexico schools and one Arizona school (Window Rock).
On the girls side, Aztec won the meet with 97 points. Montezuma-Cortez, Dolores, Mancos and Dove Creek were sixth, 10th, 11th and 12th with 28, 16, 11 and nine points respectively.
Ashley Lingo led the Lady Panthers in the discus with a first-place throw of 114-02, while Dove Creeks Kyli Banks was second with a throw of 99-02.50. Randy Elliot was fourth for M-CHS with a throw of 89-05. In the shot put, Laura Heaton placed fourth for the Lady Panthers with a heave of 31-08 and Banks was in fifth with her distance of 31-05.
Mindy McCracken had a good day for the Dolores Lady Bears with an eighth-place finish in the 100-meter dash (13.43), fourth in the 200-meter (27.36) and finished fifth in the long jump (14-10). Cassie Lord was eighth in the 200-meter (28.40) and sixth in the triple jump (32-01.75). Alex Willis paced the Lady Bears in the 3,200-meter run with a seventh-place finish of 14:14.08.
Jenna Hankins and Shelbie Knuckles finished sixth each in the 400-meter dash and 100-meter hurdles with times of 1:09.03 and 18.65.
Carly Wolf led M-CHS in the 800-meter run with her runner-up finish of 2:36.97. Following Wolf was Lady Bear Rachel Beverlin in third-place in 2:37.76.
Kelsey Corbin came in second-place for Mancos in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5:39.28.
Farmington won the team championship on the boys side with 88 points. M-CHS, Mancos and Dolores were fourth, eighth and 11th with point totals of 62, 25 and five. Dove Creek did not place.
Eric Lewis led the Bluejays in the 800-meter with the top finish of 2:06.75, while Jordan Saunders paced the Panthers in fourth-place in 2:16.25.
M-CHS senior jumper and hurdler Corey Adams finished second, third, third and sixth in the triple jump (39-09.50), high jump (5-06), 110-meter hurdles (16.41) and 300-meter hurdles (44.21). Mancos Kenny Philpot won the high jump with a leap of 6-00. Nick Haukeness finished sixth and eighth in the high jump (5-02) and 110-meter hurdles (19.13) for the Panthers. Wrangler Hinton placed-first for M-CHS in the discus with his throw of 128-05.25, while Isaac Padilla was ninth with a distance of 103-01. Wiley Kirks and William Wright had fourth-place Panthers finishes in the long jump (19-00) and 100-meter dash (11.44).
Alex Bernholtz placed fourth and fifth for the Bears in the 110-meter hurdles (17.20) and 300-meter hurdles (42.89). Kyle Buchanan was eighth for Mancos in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.70.
