A 33-year-old man living homeless in Durango was found dead along the banks of the Animas River early Thursday, La Plata County Coroner Jann Smith said.
Around midnight, a report came into authorities of a body lying on the ground near the Ninth Street Bridge.
Upon investigation, the man was found to be deceased. He was identified as Manuel Shirley, who Smith said was part of the homeless community in Durango.
Smith said there were no obvious signs of why Shirley died, and an autopsy will be performed Tuesday.
She said no foul play is suspected.
A call to Durango Police Department Cmdr. Ray Shupe was not immediately returned Thursday afternoon.
