Why are you running for town board?I have been an acting board member for the past year. Dolores has a diverse community that makes our town unique, and I am familiar with the logistics of the town board and the needs of the town of Dolores.
What experience do you bring to the table?I’ve been a resident of Dolores since 1996. With a background in owning and operating a small local business, I can bring both experience and capability. I am currently on the planning and zoning committee. I am familiar with issues raised during the past year.
What is your occupation? Age?Small business owner, Dolores Liquors. Age? Old enough to vote.
What do you hope to accomplish as a town board member?I hope to ensure that all decisions made are in the best interest of the town and its citizens, and to promote local businesses and small business owners. I plan to take an active role with all issues pertaining to the guidelines within our community and actively promote community involvement.
What has Dolores town government done well in recent years?One of the main attributes is the sewage treatment plant and updating the pump house. Plus the bike trail.
In what ways do you think town government could improve Dolores?I believe the town government could promote and expand local events, such as the Dolores River Festival and Escalante Days, to increase revenue and stimulate local businesses. The increase in revenue would be beneficial in supporting the town’s business and general economy.
Do you have a vision for the future of Dolores?I’d like to see the town of Dolores thrive and succeed. I’d like to see additional means of bringing revenue into our community to sustain our small business owners and residents.
