A property fire on Colorado Highway 145 near County Road N caused damage and sent one man to the hospital, said Cortez Fire Protection District Chief Jay Balfour.
The fire badly damaged two sheds, and sparks caused a fast-moving grass fire, he said. Flying sparks also ignited the tops of a nearby cottonwood tree.
The man’s injuries were not life-threatening.
Cortez Fire Protection District and Dolores Fire Department crews responded to the scene and the fire was controlled, Balfour said.
Southwest Health System ambulance also responded, along with the Montezuma County Sheriff.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Balfour said.
