A recall notice has been issued for marijuana at a Durango dispensary after state investigators found an unapproved pesticide was used during production.

The state’s Marijuana Enforcement Division on Thursday issued an “immediate health and safety advisory” because of potentially unsafe pesticide residues used on marijuana produced by Kinfolk Farms.

The owner of Kinfolk Farms did not respond to requests for comment. The shop is located at 83 Davidson Creek Road near Three Springs.

According to the recall notice, products are deemed “a threat to public health and safety” when pesticides have been used on them that have not been approved for use on marijuana by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

Shannon Gray, spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Revenue, said Kinfolk Farms self-reported the situation, and “indicated the prohibited pesticide spinosad was used on the affected product.”

She did not answer follow up questions about the matter.

The specific batches recalled are “BlueDream021720” and “MaiTaiFR11292020.” Those names should appear on the packages sold.

Anyone who purchased those products should return them to Kinfolk Farms for proper disposal.

Anyone who may experience health issues should seek medical attention immediately, the recall notice said.

According to the company’s website, Kinfolk Farms was established in 2015.

“Our plants are pesticide-free and are regularly tested for purity and consistency,” the website says.
