The family of Randy Mathews would like to thank all the people involved with the development and construction of the electronic sign at the school built in his memory.
The Mancos PTA and parents went door to door with petitions gaining the support of the community.
They headed up research on the sign in terms of what it would offer the school and community. Without them this process would have never gotten off the ground.
We also want to thank the Mancos Planning and Zoning Board for allowing us to proceed with construction and for their guidance in building it in a manner suiting the community.
Mike Morelli of Morelli Framing, a childhood friend of Randy's, and his crew handled the excavation, concrete, framing and setting of the sign. Their efforts were critical.
Summit Electric-Dave and Jeremy Noack, longtime residents ran all the power and played a significant role in the process. Durango Plastering/Trigg Masonry installed the stone and put final touches to match the stonework of our historic high school.
The purpose of the sign is to relay important school and community information to all who pass by. The heartbeat of our community can be found inside the walls of our schools. Our family is thankful for the staff at Mancos Schools and their efforts to help mold our youths. Our family is also thankful for the Mancos community.
