Colorado State Patrol said a green, 1993 Jeep drove over a cliff and then crashed into a house Saturday afternoon near Purgatory Resort.
The driver, a 52-year-old Durango man, suffered minor to no injuries. People were in the home, but no one was injured. The incident was still under investigation Saturday afternoon, said Corp. Ivan Alvarado, public information officer for the State Patrol.
“All we know is he left the roadway, went over a cliff and into a house,” Alvarado said.
The driver’s identity could not be released because of the ongoing investigation.
Colorado State Patrol could not provide further information about how the driver went over the cliff, but said that alcohol was not involved, according to preliminary reports. It also wasn’t clear how severely the house was damaged by the Jeep.
Homeowners had not filed charges against the driver as of Saturday. Colorado State Patrol considered it to be a property damage crash because no one was injured, Alvarado said.
