After the majority of Dolores High School's track athletes skipped the Bayfield Quad Meet meet on April 5, the Bears' chances of placing well disappeared.
Athletes who competed during Spring Break had solid results.
Leading the way for the girls team was senior Brianna Schwartz, who finished first in the 300-meter hurdles (52.90).
She also competed in the high jump (4 feet, 3 inches) and the long jump (12 feet, 10¼ inches), finishing sixth and ninth, respectively.
Larissa Umberger finished third in the 300 hurdles (56.12) and eighth in the long jump (12 feet, 11¼ inches); Kelly Charles, fifth in the 200 (30.52) and fifth in the shot put (24 feet, 9¾ inches); and Shavargus Noyes, fourth in the 300 hurdles (56.37).
All the girls came off the break.
On the boys side, Ruben Gomez placed sixth in the long jump (17 feet, 9¾ inches) and eighth in the 200-meter dash (26.70).
The Bears track teams next compete in Bayfield on April 12.
