When it comes to high school rodeo competitions, stellar results are notoriously difficult to achieve.
Ute Mountain High School Rodeo Team member Tanner Lockhart continues to enjoy such results however, leading the team to an impressive start this season.
Competing in Pueblo, April 19-20, Lockhart won two more individual titles, scoring 69 points on both the first and second day of the event to earn top honors in the Saddle Bronc event.
Lockhart was recently selected to compete in the Cowboy Outfitters USA Rodeo Camp, which will be held in San Antonio, May 8-11. One of 20 high school saddle bronc riders invited to the event, Lockhart will receive technical instruction from former professional riders, while learning about aspects of a professional rodeo career.
Also turning in top-five performances for the team, Cammie Maxwell placed second in Barrel racing (15.279 seconds) and Whitney Finley placed fourth in breakaway roping (3.700).
Other top finishers on the team included Stormi Pitman, who placed fifth in the goat tying on Day 1 (9.970), Shelby Fullmer, who placed sixth in the pole bending on Day 1 (21.493) and Madeline Shaline, who placed seventh in breakaway roping on Day 1 (4.320).
Next up for the Ute Mountain Rodeo Team will be an event in Henderson, which will take place April 26-27.
