Jim Reser is the new senior multimedia sales consultant for The Cortez Journal, Dolores Star and Mancos Times. His job is to help businesses gain success through advertising in print and online through all the channels the Journal has available.
Reser's family moved to Cortez in 1966, and his parents were the owners of two local businesses. He graduated from Montezuma-Cortez High School in 1970, and Fort Lewis College in 1975. He served as manager of the Cortez Area Chamber of Commerce in 1973-1975; the Fort Morgan Chamber of Commerce until 1977; and the Wheat Ridge Chamber of Commerce until early 1979. He returned to Cortez to help in the family business for a few years until returning to the Denver area in 1982 to work in a bank.
Reser started a career in business consulting with the City of Aurora in 1991,and became the center director for the Colorado Small Business Development Center at Fort Lewis College in 1995, serving five counties in southwest Colorado. He started a private consulting firm in 2002, and moved to Russellville, Ark., in 2010 to start a small business and technology development center for Arkansas Tech University. He returned to Cortez in 2012 and has operated Four Corners Cell Phone Repair, before joining the staff of The Cortez Journal in April 2014.
Jim is president of the Rotary Club of Cortez. He has served as a board member and president of the Cortez Area Chamber of Commerce, and was the founding chairman of the board of the Montezuma County Economic Development Association.
