Recently, six members of the Dolores FFA Chapter went to Fort Collins for the State CDE competition.
Evan Moore, Guy Wallace and Bronco Odell participated in the Ag Mechanics competition. Tyler Nance, Breanna Maxwell and Riley Syra competed in the Farm Business Management competition. These students went up against individuals from across Colorado.
In the Ag Mechanics contest, competitors had to apply skills using: both a MIG and Arc welder, use a cutting torch, take various tool identification and written tests and create an electric circuit board. Bronco Odell and Evan Moore both received an individual gold award, and Guy Wallace received a bronze award. As a team, they received the gold award and were recognized on stage.
The Farm Business Management team of Breana Maxwell, Tyler Nance and Riley Syra, took one hourlong test and a 2½-hour long test. The test are made up of business questions and the students also have to solve a business problem analysis.
The Career Development Events were held at the Colorado State University Fort Collins campus.
The welding portion of the Ag Mechanics competition was held at Aims Community College.
