Navajo State Park will hold an introductory archery class for children ages 8 through 12, from 9 a.m.-noon, May 31 at the Sambrito Wetlands Nature Area.
All equipment is provided. The class concentrates on range rules, safety rules, range courtesy and fundamentals of archery.
The beginner session is appropriate for those who have never shot a bow or who have some previous experience.
Sambrito Wetlands are located on the western edge of Navajo Lake. To reach the trailhead leave the main entrance and turn left on Colo. Highway 151 and travel about five miles. Just as you are about to enter the town of Allison, turn left onto County Road 988 and continue to the end of the road.
The class is limited to 10 kids. To sign up, call the park at 970-883-2208.
The program is free, but every vehicle entering the park must have a pass. The daily entry fee is $7, and an annual pass costs $70.
