The Cortez Retail Enhancement Association (CREA) has announced the selection of Mark Drudge as its new executive director.
Drudge will fill the vacancy created by Gayel Alexander’s departure in October after seven years at the helm. The selection was made after a regional search while former CREA director, Kelly Kirkpatrick, served as interim director for the organization.
“We are very pleased to announce this appointment,” said Glen Leighton, CREA board chairman.
“Mark brings a wealth of marketing, advertising and promotions experience to CREA as well as a deep understanding of the challenges of local retailers. We are anxious to take CREA to the next level and feel confident that Mark can help us reach those goals.”
Mark’s resume includes over 27 years of administration, communication, marketing and advertising experience at newspapers and publishing groups in similar markets. He most recently worked for Ballantine Communications Inc., as advertising director for the Durango Herald, Cortez Journal, Mancos Times, Dolores Star, Pine River Times and Bugle as well as all digital offerings. He has worked as publisher, ad director, circulation director and weekly columnist in Glenwood Springs and Rifle, Colo.; York and Grand Island, Neb.; and Newton, Iowa.
He is a member of the Mesa Verde Kiwanis Club in Cortez and recently served on the board of directors for the Colorado Press Association. He has won numerous awards from several state press associations for work in advertising and column writing.
“I am excited about working in this new job and look forward to continuing to provide the good support that CREA has offered Cortez retailers in the past,” Drudge said. “I have made my working career in communities like this, and hope I can add new vision and direction to help foster continued growth in our region.”
CREA is a 501c(6) nonprofit organization providing advertising information, education, and consulting support to promote Cortez as a shopping destination.
