FARMINGTON – The New Mexico Department of Health reported only two allergic reactions among the 8,031 San Juan County residents who have received both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
“The vast majority of ‘adverse reactions’ are related to a fear of needles or anxiety about getting vaccinated,” said David Morgan, media manager and social media manager with the state health department.
According to the department, when patients get vaccinated, they sit and wait awhile to make sure there is no “true allergic reaction.”
According to the state’s COVID Dashboard, 8,031 San Juan County residents are fully vaccinated as of Tuesday.
The two patients with allergic cases were treated and safely discharged, according to the state health department.
“We have heard anecdotal reports of the mild reactions that are expected, particularly with the second dose, such as headaches, body aches and fever,” Morgan said.
