Thanks to three podium finishes in the last three weeks, Cortez-native Eli Tomac is making waves in the motocross world.
Competing in the Budds Creek National in Maryland on July 12, Tomac was once again impressive, finishing third overall.
Tomac’s podium finish was far from guaranteed as the GEICO Honda rider nearly withdrew from the race due to back pain.
“Honestly, at the start of the day, I didn’t know if I was going to be racing,” Tomac was quoted as saying in a GEICO Motorcycle press release. “To turn it into a podium is awesome.”
To achieve his third place finish, Tomac finished fourth in the first moto and third in the second moto after battling back from a tough start.
“I got in a good flow and had some good lines out there,” said Tomac. “It was fun. I’m just gunning for podiums.”
Next up for Tomac will be a race in Millville, Minn., on July 19. Those interested in watching the race can tune in to www.promotocross.com from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. to watch the live action.
