WASHINGTON – U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert has been using unique methods to encourage her supporters to make donations toward her 2022 re-election campaign.
As hashtags calling for her to go to prison and insulting her intelligence have trended at No. 1 on Twitter, Boebert has taken the opportunity to fundraise for her campaign.
The hashtag “#LaurenBoebert4Prison” began trending at No. 1 on March 9. Boebert responded to the hashtag in a tweet:
“#LaurenBoebert4Prison? Really? The Left is so terrified of me they literally want me in prison,” Boebert said in a tweet. “Newsflash: I’m not going anywhere.”
She posted another tweet that same day with a video of her in Washington addressing the hashtag.
“I promised the people of Colorado I would get to D.C. and shake things up and actually represent them for a change,” Boebert said in the video she posted on Twitter. “I’ve stood up for our election integrity, the Second Amendment, the rights of the unborn, for our ranchers and energy workers and for our right to free speech.”
She encouraged her followers to donate $17.76.
Less than two weeks later, another hashtag about her began trending at No. 1. She again used it as an opportunity to fundraise.
“Seeing #LaurenBoebertIsSoDumb trend at No. 1 just proves what I’ve been saying all week. The Left hates women & I’m their top target,” Boebert said in a tweet on March 21. “As the 2022 cycle heats up, I need your support more than ever. Everyday is a full-scale attack on me!”
She said in a tweet on March 21 that she received $40,000 in donations after calling for donations on Twitter when #LaurenBoebert4Prison trended at No. 1. With #LaurenBoebertIsSoDumb trending, she took the opportunity to fundraise again.
“Liberals are pretty good at the politics of personal destruction, but hey, that’s all they have,” Boebert said in a video attached to a tweet from March 21 addressing the trending hashtag. “They certainly don’t have good policies for our country.”
In the video, she used the word “dumb” to describe some of the latest Democratic policies, including the Equality Act. She said, “Dumb is thinking that these progressive policies are better than the Constitution.”
“I am a top target of the Democrats because I call them out on their bullcrap, so let’s show them how dumb they are for attacking me instead of standing up for our country,” Boebert said in the video from March 21. “Let’s have our biggest fundraising day of our quarter today and make the liberals feel real dumb about that one.”
There have yet to be any Republican challengers voicing interest in taking Boebert on in the 2022 primary elections, but a few well-known Colorado Democrats have already started their bids to unseat Boebert, including state Sen. Kerry Donovan and state Rep. Donald Valdez.
Boebert has not addressed these opponents in any tweets or public statements about her 2022 re-election campaign.
“The Left is terrified of strong women who don’t buy into their victimhood bullcrap,” Boebert said in the video she posted on Twitter on March 9. “I refuse to bow to the cancel mob.”
