From classic kitchen tables to western knick knacks, a new antique and consignment shop on Main Street offers unique and colorful home decor items.

Forget Me-Not Antiques and More opened on Friday tucked away in a plaza on Main Street near Little Bear Indian Trading Post.

This is the most recent in a series of small businesses for entrepreneur Inez Gutierrez, who has owned a ceramics shop and a doll store, among others. This year, she left her vending spaces at The Dusty Attic in Farmington to strike out on her own again.

This time she is bringing a love for shabby-chic furniture to the business. Just in the past week, she refinished three chairs, a sideboard and a buffet using a technique that brings out texture or ornamentation of the pieces.

“To me it’s very striking,” she said.

For those intrigued by the technique, she plans to teach classes on how transform pieces using Annie Sloan chalk paints and waxes that she prefers.

She also specializes in lamp shades that she refurbishes and makes herself. The store also offers dish sets and a large array of home decor items with a somewhat Victorian flavor.

There are also three vendors in the store that offer more Western-themed items, and she still looking for more vendors, including a few that would appeal to men.

For Gutierrez, home décor has been a lifelong passion. Growing up in a family of eight kids, she said he house was always in shambles, so she set the goal to have a Victorian-style home.

“I’ve always strived for that, to have a beautiful home,” she said.

Her grand opening will be Saturday from 3-6 p.m., and her regular business hours will be Monday through Saturday 10 to 5 p.m
