Ruth Evelyn Kelso passed away on Oct. 6, 2014, in Edmonds, Wash., at age 92. She was born Oct. 19, 1921, in Telluride to Charles and Blanche Baer of Rico. She had two sisters, Verna and Vivian and a brother, Norman.
Upon graduation from high school in Grand Junction, Ruth moved to San Francisco, Calif., where she went to business school and began her career.
On July 30, 1944, she married Wallace (Wally) J. Kelso in Pyote, Texas, where he was serving in the Army Air Corp.
After the war, they returned to the San Francisco area, where children Craig and Lynn were born.
In 1955, they moved to Denver when Wally was transferred to the United Airlines Training Center.
For several years, Ruth worked for Cherry Creek High School in Denver.
Ruth and Wally lived in the Denver area until 1987, when they moved to Edmonds, Wash.
Ruth and Wally enjoyed traveling and visiting friends and family across the United States.
Ruth is survived by children Craig Kelso and wife Judy of Pleasanton, Calif.; her daughter, Lynn Denise McIntyre and husband Jim, who live on Bainbridge Island, Wash.; grandchildren, Michael Kelso (Jackie) of Houston, Anne McIntyre Turner (Erik) of Carnation, Wash., and David McIntyre of Bainbridge Island. She is also survived by brother Norman and sister-in-law Mary, who live in Greeley.
Ruth was preceded in death by husband Wally, and sisters Vivian and Verna.
A celebration of life was held Oct. 11, 2014, at the home of Lynn McIntyre.
The family expresses appreciation to Al and Lucy Rad, and Connie Krogh of Happy Days Adult Family Home, and Group Health Hospice for the care they provided Ruth.
