Ring in the new year in Mancos
The Mancos Brewing company will feature music by the Afrobeatnicks. The Mancos Brewing Co. 550 W. Railroad Ave., opens at 4 p.m. and the music starts at 8 p.m.
The Columbine, 123 Grand Ave., will also feature music on New Year's Eve with the Vanishing Breed. Music starts at 9 p.m. A $5 cover will be charged, which includes snacks, complimentary champagne and party favors.
Commission plans to broadcast meetings
The Montezuma County Commission is planning to broadcast their meetings on the Internet.
Audio and visual equipment is being upgraded so residents can view the meetings online via the county website.
The county is also looking into possibly broadcasting the meetings on a public television channel of the Southwest Colorado Television Translator Association.
Technical details are still being worked out, but access to the meetings on the county website is expected in the coming months.
Distillery will host La La Bones Jan. 16
The Mancos Valley Distillery will present La La Bones Friday, Jan. 16 at the distillery, 116 N. Main St., Mancos. Doors open at 5 p.m. and music starts at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $5 and the moneygoes to the band.
La La Bones is a six-piece bluegrass band that draws inspiration from the wild landscape and western history of southwestern Colorado. Rooted in Durango with a vocal arsenal shared by three women and three men, La La Bones delivers a diverse, original and dynamic bluegrass sound. The ensemble features Tommy Frederico on banjo, Jimi Giles on bass, Kathy Hilimire on fiddle, Deb Moses on dobro, Scott Roberts on mandolin, and Kyle Siesser on guitar.
Join the 2015 Great Decisions group
The Great Decisions group at the Mancos Public Library is seeking new members to join our discussion group that will begin monthly meetings in January 2015. The day and time for meetings will be determined based on the availability of facilitator and group members.
