County roads wearing thin

Ride along revealed roads in need of repair, paving
Capital improvement plan provides blueprint for road maintenance

La Plata County is divided geographically into four road districts encompassing Bayfield, Durango, Ignacio and the western part of the county including Marvel.
Between 2017 and 2026, the county plans to tackle road and bridge reconstruction and maintenance projects in each of the four districts.
Bayfield
County Road 501, three miles of asphalt overlay, $1.2 million
County Road 502, 2.3 miles of asphalt overlay and culvert replacement, $1.3 million
County Road 510, 6.7 miles of reconstruction, $4 million
Durango
County Road 203, 2.4 miles of asphalt overlay, $944,000
County Road 210, four miles of asphalt overlay, $1.6 million
Bridge replacement over Florida Canal, $900,000
Ignacio
County Road 301, one mile reconstruction from County Road 302 to County Road 300 gravel pit, $1 million
County Road 302, three miles of asphalt overlay, $1.4 million
County Road 305, half mile of paving gravel, $280,000
West County
County Road 141, 1.2 miles reconstruction including intersection work, $1.2 million
Culvert replacement, $150,000
County Road 122, replace La Plata River Bridge, $500,000
