Enrollment at the Mancos campus of Southwest Colorado Community College this year is a bright spot for the parent institution - Pueblo Community College.
The college's Census Day, Feb. 4, found full-time equivalent enrollment in Mancos up 21 percent compared with the previous year. The full-time enrollment was 209 students, with an actual body count of 305 students reflecting a 2 percent increase.
The college's mobile learning labs, which are traveling units that teach work-site customized training, could account for the disparity between full-time enrollment and the actual number of students, said Gary Franchi, public-relations coordinator for Pueblo Community College.
A mobile lab at the Mancos campus teaches skills required in the energy field, Franchi said.
The college launched its first mobile learning lab in 2007 to teach mechanical systems, welding, electrical systems and manufacturing.
Enrollment at the Southwest Colorado Community College campus in Durango was 365 students, down 5 percent from Census Day in 2014. The 2015 full-time enrollment in Durango was 214, equal to the previous year.
Overall, Pueblo Community College, which has a campus in Cañon City, had 5,822 students, the full-time equivalency of 3,727. Each figure is down 5 percent compared with 2014.
