After qualifying for state as a freshman, Dove Creek junior Colin Hobbs narrowly missed making the state tournament last year.
Wrestling with renewed determination this season however, Hobbs enjoyed a great deal of success, which culminated with a second place finish at the Regional Tournament on Feb. 14.
Now, the 106-pound junior will do his best to capture a state title and remain confident while doing so.
“My goal is to place in the top-three at state,” said Hobbs. I came into this season with more confidence and I just need to come out confident that I’m going to win every match.”
Hobbs (31-8) will begin his quest for the title with a match against Burlington High School’s Cody Jacobsen (32-8) on the afternoon of Feb. 20. If Hobbs wins, he will face off against Centauri High School’s Kord Howsman (25-7) or Peyton High School’s Austin Hermes (15-17).
