The 15th annual Home and Garden Show kicks off Friday at the Montezuma County Fairgrounds, offering attendees a one-stop, no-pressure shop to browse products and services from local and regional vendors.
The event, sponsored by the Four Corners Builders Association, has made a point this year to appeal to a broader base of attendees whether they’re looking for a roofer or home decor.
“Home is such a large word and can cover a lot of different areas, so we really wanted to include that stuff,” said Four Corners Builders Association event coordinator Jaynee Crockett.
A big hit at the show every year includes cooking and technology demonstrations from participating businesses, as well as the silent auction and raffle for a $200 Visa gift card or 39-inch TV.
Several nonprofits also will exhibit, Crockett says, including three veterans groups: Project Outreach, the local VFW and Farmington-based organization the Veterans Homestead Project, which helps reintegrate back into civilian life by teaching them farming skills.
Musicians will be added year, including a singer-guitarist duo from East Arizona College on Saturday.
“Having music in the background, I think, just gives it a more homey feel,” said Crockett.
Making its return for the third year in a row is the Classic Car Show, slated for Saturday.
In previous years, cars like the 1932 Ford Roadster and 1936 Chevrolet Pickup were on display, among other impressive and immaculately kept vehicles from yesteryear.
This year’s show is featuring a $2 million showpiece, being brought down the Telluride Cars and Colors Fest.
“The car show is huge for us every year,” said Crockett.
Proceeds from the annual Home and Garden show are used to award $1,000 college scholarships to area high school seniors, as well as education forums open to the public and several community organizations.
