Local bike shop to offer two clinics
Mountain Bike Specialists will host these free informational clinics Saturday at 949 Main Ave.:
An Introduction to Cycling 101 will take place at 3:30 p.m. Topics will include where to ride, how to dress to ride in the varying weather conditions in Durango, what to eat to avoid bonking, shifting and braking. A question-and-answer session will follow.
A Strava clinic will take place at 4:30 p.m. The clinic will cover how to download and navigate Strava, the benefits of joining the community and how to use Strava to assist with cycling goals.

Free fly fishing seminar to be held
The San Juan Fly Fishing Federation will present its spring free fly fishing seminar from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. April 18 at the Cottonwood Campground, 4 miles below Navajo Dam.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. Various fly fishing topics will be presented. Refreshments as well as fly fishing gear will be provided. In addition, a New Mexico State Park Pass will be provided at registration for people who attend the seminar.

Seniors Outdoors announces programs
Seniors Outdoors will host these programs:
Aztec Arches & Canyons will take place at 8 a.m. Saturday. This will be a hike in canyons east of Aztec, New Mexico. Four-wheel-drive, high-clearance vehicles are required. To RSVP, call Bob Thompson 382-9271.
The Seniors Outdoors general meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. “Kayaking the Extremes with the Klemas” will be presented by the Klema brothers, Nate and Matt.
The Wednesday Wanderers will hike Smelter Mountain at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. The group will hike to the towers on Smelter Mountain from the trailhead located off County Road 210 behind the Lake Nighthorse pumping station. Nonmembers should RSVP to Ray Walker at 382-7662.
A Moab, Utah, camping trip will take place at 8 a.m. Thursday to April 18. Possible destinations are Behind The Rocks, Corona Arch, Mary Jane Canyon, Fisher Towers, and Devil’s Garden or Delicate Arch in Arches National Park. A hike of Sand Canyon with a breakfast option will take place at 7:30 a.m. April 18 at the Absolute Bakery & Café, 110 S. Main St. in Mancos. This canyon area west of Cortez is replete with views, Ancestral Puebloan sites and interesting rock formations. The cost to carpool is $7. Dogs are allowed in Sand Canyon but must be leashed. Bassmasters to host bass tournament
The Southwest Colorado Bassmasters will hold its third bass tournament of the year on Saturday at Navajo Lake.
The group holds five to seven tournaments a year at various lakes. Members have the chance to win cash and trophies if they fish in the tournaments throughout the year.
