Dear Editor, We are Juniors at Dolores High School and we chose to do our Service Learning Project at Four Corners Child Advocacy Center. Over the past 6 months, we have weeded, cleaned, shopped, helped out at parades, volunteered at fundraisers and initiated the mural project you covered in this morning's paper. The work done at the Advocacy Center affects all of us even if we don't realize it. One of the things we have learned this year, is that EVERY child in our community deserves a happy childhood, and that means that we, as a community, need to insure that our kids are safe. When bad things happen to kids who are not, they deserve justice and healing. That is what the Child Advocacy Center provides. April is Child Abuse Awareness Month and we encourage all parents, teachers and care-givers to take time to talk to the children in your life about how to stay safe and protected. Oh! And please honk when you drive past our Pinwheel for Prevention Garden at Cultural Center in Cortez on April 17! Thank you to FCCAC for letting us volunteer with you guys. We think you rock!
