Small business center is enterprise zone project
The regional, Southwest Colorado Small Business Development Center has been approved as an Enterprise Zone Contribution Project by the Colorado Economic Development Commission. This designation allows donor contributions of $250 or more to be eligible for a 25 percent state tax credit on cash donations, and a 12.5 percent state tax credit on in-kind donations such as professional services.
Currently, 32 projects are designated in Southwest Colorado. A list of eligible Enterprise Zone projects and program information is available at www.scan.org or by calling the Region 9 Economic Development District at 970-247-9621.
County planners seek input on disaster plan
A partnership between Cortez, Dolores, Mancos, Montezuma County and other stakeholders is working to create a Montezuma County Hazard Mitigation Plan.
Planners have developed a survey and request community input from Montezuma residents, businesses and interested citizens. Fill out the survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/MontezumaHMPCommunitySurvey.

Flower show workshop planned before fair
The Mesa Verde Gardeners will host a design class in advance of the Montezuma County Fair and Horticultural Show at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 14, at 29204 Road M.
Interested participants will receive instruction on floral arrangements and how to prepare for the design segment of the Horticultural Show which runs from July 29 to Aug. 1.
Anyone interested in flower design is welcome to attend. Fair booklets with complete rules for submitting a design are available at the Montezuma County Extension Office. Reservations are requested for participants by July 13.

Leadership Montezuma accepting applications
Applications are being accepted for Leadership Montezuma’s 2015-2016 class.
Leadership Montezuma is a countywide course with a 20-year history of engaging, developing and inspiring community leaders. This two-year program brings together community members for one full day a month to explore life in our region, connect with local businesses, nonprofits and governmental agencies.
Sessions are held the third Thursday of each month. Registration closes Aug. 1.
