Southwest Memorial auxiliary plans bazaar
The Southwest Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is holding a Christmas in July Bazaar on Friday, July 24, from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. in the hospital lobby.
New merchandise, holiday merchandise and beautiful beaded and fabric craft items will be available. A 10 percent discount on all merchandise in the gift shop will be offered. Auxiliary members will also hold a bake sale, so come early for the best selection. All proceeds go to the hospital.
Mesa Verde Gardeners invite participation in fair
Mesa Verde Gardeners encourage all gardeners or arrangers in Montezuma and the surrounding counties to participate in the Montezuma County Fair Horticulture/Agriculture/Design Show, July 30 to Aug. 1.
There will be lots of prizes for best entries in every class. Classes include: flowers, fruits and vegetables, foliage, herbs, shrubs, grasses, houseplants, educational displays, and floral design.
Entries will be accepted on Wednesday, July 29 from 3-8 p.m. at the Fairgrounds Rodeo Room. Floral design and educational entries require pre-registration by July 28 to reserve a spot.

For Pet’s Sake ramps up membership drive
For Pet’s Sake annual membership drive is in full swing.
Pets’ Sake Humane Society will hold its annual Summer Wine Festival on Aug. 1 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Cliffrose Gardens just east of Cortez on U.S. Highway 160.
The evening will include wines and beers, other cold beverages, appetizers, desserts, music by the Carl Johnson Trio, and a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit our local pets.
For Pets’ Sake Humane Society is a source of assistance for pets and their families in Montezuma and Dolores counties. It helps with veterinary bills, food for dogs and cats when things get tight, aid in finding lost pets, a small foster program that rehomes dogs and cats, a larger assistance program that helps pet owners find new homes for their pets by advertising, promoting and offering guidance.
For Pets’ Sake also has a trap/neuter/release program that assists property owners in humanely dealing with feral cats.

Women’s Small Business Conference on July 29
The Colorado Small Business Development Center Network will host the sixth annual Women’s Small Business Conference on Wednesday, July 29 in Durango.
The conference is 7:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. in the Student Union Building at Fort Lewis College.
Female entrepreneurs are invited to attend this conference to receive hands-on business training seminars, free one-on-one consulting, exhibitor tables with regional resources, breakout sessions, and plenty of networking opportunities. The wide array of themes makes it easy for attendees from all industries to learn the necessary skills to further their business.
This year’s keynote speaker is Sylvia Theisen, a diverse business leader who has spent her career in residential real estate sales and counseling employees of Fortune 500 companies. She is founder of She Takes The Lead, providing training and coaching to women in business.
