The Dove Creek Bulldogs (1-1) racked up over 400 yards rushing in their 40-0 wrecking of Rangely (1-2) on Friday.
Senior Case Baughman led the offensive charge with 208 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.
Senior quarterback Jordan Ernst tallied 124 rushing yards of his own, and found the end zone three times, and junior Scott Gatlin chipped in 87 rushing yards.
Head coach Shane Baughman said the key to the Bulldogs rushing attack was the offensive line of Dante Gallegos, Spencer Gatlin and Beau Hemphill.
“The big boys dominated the line of scrimmage,” he said.
The Dove Creek defense was stingy, allowing only 71 yards passing and 32 yards on the ground.
Spencer Gatlin and Case Baughman stymied the Panthers passing game, with Gatlin recording a sack and Baughman pulling down two interceptions.
The Bulldogs will look to avenge last year’s 47-16 loss to Sangre de Cristo when they host the Thunderbirds on Friday, Sept. 18 at 3 p.m.
“Sangre had their way with us last year,” Baughman said. “The kids are looking for some revenge.”
