7:04 a.m. A man reported a locked bicycle was stolen from his residence on the 1200 block of Montelores Street.
Saturday, Sept. 12
8:37 a.m. Police responded to the 200 block of South Market Street for an auto burglary. A radar detector, hunting knife and phone case valued at $600 were reported stolen. A backpack with multiple books was later recovered.
11:50 a.m. Police arrested a man at City Park on an outstanding warrant, open container and possession of alcohol. Another man was ticketed for open container and alcohol possession.
3:26 p.m. Police responded to the 200 block of E. Seventh Street for a theft. Pry marks were found on a rear door. A VCR, television and sound system were reported missing. A bicycle was also taken apart.
Sunday, Sept. 13
10:03 a.m. A man reported a fire extinguisher valued at $100 was stolen from Cedar Terrace Apartments.
12:15 p.m. Police responded to the 600 block of N. Elm Street for a fight in progress. A man admitted to beating another man after he grabbed his daughter. The alleged victim was arrested on unrelated charges. The alleged assault was referred to prosecutors for further investigation.
6:46 p.m. A woman reported that a man pulled a knife on her at the Montezuma-Cortez High School football field parking lot, stating he was going to stab her dog. A warrant for menacing was requested.
Tuesday, Sept. 15
6:20 a.m. Police responded to Sleeping Ute Apartments for a disturbance. A pregnant woman was reportedly thrown onto the floor and hit in the face. A man was arrested and detained on assault and domestic violence charges.
11:35 a.m. Police responded to City Market for a shoplifter. A woman reportedly hid two packages of ground beef valued at $35 inside her purse. She was arrested and charged with shoplifting.
1:53 p.m. Police responded to the Dolores State Bank for a fight. A man that suffered a black eye was arrested and charged with disturbing the peace and open container. Another man was arrested and charged with disturbing the police and an outstanding warrant.
5:52 p.m. Police responded to the Cortez Public Library for a fight between two brothers. After a brief vehicle pursuit, one man was arrested and charged on an outstanding warrant, violating a protection order and violating bond conditions. The other man was arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license.
Wednesday, Sept. 16
11:05 a.m. A man was arrested inside Montezuma County Court on an outstanding warrant. Police reported the man was in possession of .3 grams of methamphetamines when taken into custody. He was also charged with drug possession.
1:06 p.m. A resident at the Oak Meadows Trailer Park reported her car was stolen. A suspect was identified and an arrest warrant requested.
2 p.m. A woman reported that she left her wallet days before at Handymart.
4:24 p.m. Police responded to City Park for an assault. A woman reported that she was pushed down and hit in the head. A man was arrested and charged with assault.
7:03 p.m. Police responded to the intersection of Cornett and Willow streets for a dog running at large. A Pit Bull reportedly injured two dogs. A woman was ticketed.
8:03 p.m. Police responded to the 10 block of N. Madison Street for a burglary. A woman reported items were rearranged, but nothing was missing.
8:12 p.m. Police responded to a residence on the 500 block of S. Madison Street for a domestic incident. A woman reported that her husband damaged a game console and locked her and the children outside. He was arrested for criminal mischief and domestic violence. Damages were estimated at $235.
11:12 p.m. Police responded to a residence on the 600 block of North Ash Street after an anonymous caller reported a woman honking her horn. The woman was arrested and charged with violating a protection order.
Thursday, Sept. 17
7:09 a.m. Police responded to Oak Meadows Trailer Park for a disturbance. A man with an injured eye was taken to the hospital after threatening to commit suicide.
11:26 a.m. Police arrested a man at Arby’s on an outstanding warrant.
8:07 p.m. A resident on the 400 block of S. Elm Street reported that her husband violated a protection order by entering her home. No charges were filed.
9:08 p.m. A motorist was stopped for speeding, 60 in a 25 mph zone, on Cedar Street. A woman was arrested and charged with DUI, driving with a suspended license and reckless driving.
9:49 p.m. Police responded to Oak Meadows Trailer Park for an assault in progress. A woman reportedly cut her hand during a physical altercation with a sister while making funeral arrangements for their mother. A woman was arrested and charged with assault and an outstanding warrant.
Friday, Sept. 18
3:21 p.m. Police observed a motorist run a stop sign on the 800 block of E. Third Street. A man was arrested and charged with providing false information, driving with a suspended license, running a stop sign and an outstanding warrant.
11:16 p.m. Police responded to a man’s residence on the 1200 block of Cottonwood Street to arrest him on a warrant.
Saturday, Sept. 19
8:50 a.m. Police responded to Plaza Laundry for a burglary. All four exterior doors reportedly contained pry marks. No items were reported missing. Damages were estimated at $1,225.
9:46 a.m. A man armed with a machete and a brass sword was observed walking into Liquid Assets Liquor Store. After exiting the store with whiskey, police arrested and charged the man with violating a protection order, weapons possession and alcohol possession.
4:56 p.m. Police responded to Centennial Park for a disturbance. A man reported that he was hit in the face. Two men were arrested and charged with assault.
Sunday, Sept. 20
4:44 p.m. Police responded to Walmart for shoplifting. Employee’s reportedly chased the suspect on foot. A man was ticketed for shoplifting for allegedly stealing ear buds and a phone charger valued at $30.
Monday, Sept. 21
1:33 p.m. The owner of Cortez Family Acupuncture reported a broken natural gas line. Damages were estimated at $500.
4:09 p.m. A woman reported that she was assaulted by her ex-husband at a residence on the 700 block of North Market Street. The woman said she was hit in the face. He was arrested and charged for assault, domestic violence and violating a protection order.
6:48 p.m. Police responded to a residence on the 600 block of Alameda Drive for dispute. A resident reportedly invited a man he met online into the home for sex. Police were called after the man refused to leave. He was arrested and charged with trespassing.
Tuesday, Sept. 22
7:26 a.m. Police responded to Plaza Laundry for a burglary. A cash register was found in a nearby ditch and both a phone card and vending machine were breached. Total damages were estimated at $10,000.
12:19 p.m. Police responded to City Market for a panhandler. Warned to leave the scene, the suspect was arrested hours later for trespassing.
12:22 p.m. A man reported that a handgun was stolen from his unlocked vehicle a month prior while in Albuquerque.
5:52 p.m. Police responded to Slaven’s Hardware for shoplifting. A man reportedly fled with a roll of shop towels valued at $2.
7:08 p.m. Police responded to City Park for a disturbance. Two men were arrested. One was charged with open container and underage consumption. The other was charged with open container and possession of alcohol.
10:28 p.m. A man was ticketed for possession of alcohol at City Park.
