Library to show Indie Lens ‘Stray Dog’
The Mancos Public Library next Friday, Oct. 15, is showing the Independent Lens film, “Stray Dog.” The showing is an Indie Lens Pop-Up event, an initiative that brings neighbors together for film screenings and community-driven conversations.
Featuring documentaries seen on the PBS series Independent Lens, Indie Lens Pop-Up seeks to bring local residents, leaders, and organizations together to discuss everything from newsworthy topics to family and relationships. Stray Dog is directed by Debra Granik, who was also nominated for an Oscar in 2010 for the fictional drama “Winter’s Bone,” and is portrait of a motorcycle-riding Vietnam veteran with a hard exterior and a soft heart.
Showtime at the Mancos Library starts at 6 p.m. and a community discussion on the film will be held afterward.
Seed-saving workshop planned at library
Also at the Mancos Public Library next weekend, is a seed saving workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The workshop is a collaboration between Mancos’ Laughing Wolf Farm and the Mancos Public Library.
Morning sessions will take place at the Laughing Wolf Farm and afternoon sessions will be held at the library. Sessions will focus on the importance of saving seeds, an overview of seed biology, and seed processing, cleaning, sorting, and packaging. For more information, please contact Shaine Gans at Mancos Public Library or Lee-Ann Hill at Laughing Wolf Farm at 970-560-5489.
