A critics’ favorite

Alejandro Inarritu’s “The Revenant” won Golden Globe awards in the drama category for best picture and best actor for star Leonardo DiCaprio, who seems to be on a path to an Academy Award for his portrayal of the 1820s fur trapper Hugh Glass.
Alejandro Inarritu’s “The Revenant” landed a leading 12 Academy Awards nominations Thursday.
The film which also landed nominations for best-actor favorite Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy and Inarritu’s long-take maverick cinematographer, Emmanuel Lubezki — has emerged as a heavyweight, taking top honors at the Golden Globes and scoring a $38 million debut.
