Measles reported
County Health Supervisor Frances Koppenhafer reported that several cases of Rubella Measles have been confirmed. This is the 10-day measles and she is asking for parents to check on the immunity levels of their children and if needed to take them to the private physicians.
Galloping Goose song
Mrs. Betty Hunter, author of the Galloping Goose poem has been working to have her words set to music and has been in contact with several country music stars in an attempt to have the music written. The latest attempt is being made through radio station KUBC in Montrose who has been in contact with the manager of C. W. McCail.
Expedition celebration
Extensive plans are underway with the reenactment of the Dominguez Escalante expedition and the dedication of the Dominguez Escalante ruin. The governors of the four corners states, the Secretary of the Interior, the Bicentennial chairman, and others will be invited to the two day affairs.
