For The Journal
The Cortez Public Library and Sunflower Theatre present a showing of the documentary film “Salam Neighbor” on Monday, June 13 at the library.
In the documentary, filmmakers Zach Ingrasci and Chris Temple embed themselves inside Jordan’s Za’atari refugee camp, providing an intimate look at the humanitarian crisis as 85,000 Syrians struggle to restart their lives seven miles from the war.
From meeting Um Ali, a woman struggling to overcome personal loss and cultural barriers, to the street-smart, 10-year-old Raouf, whose trauma hides just beneath his smile, Ingrasci and Temple uncover inspiring stories of individuals rallying, against all odds, to rebuild their lives and those of their neighbors.
The film starts at 7 p.m., and doors open at 6:15 p.m. Admission is a suggested donation of $5.
