I love Godly emails and quotes that witness to my spirit about Gods love, grace and mercy. About the character of God, repenting of our sins and being a light unto the world. Many are easy to remember and easy for church members to remember too. Try these on for size.
Who God appoints, God anoints. The Lord is more interested in building big people than building big churches. Many people want to serve God but only as advisers. When you pray believe you receive, doubt and do without. God himself doesnt propose to judge a man until he is dead. So why should you?
Dont let your worries get the best of you; remember Moses started out as a basket case. The trouble, test or task ahead of us is never as great as the power behind us. Some people are kind, polite and sweet-spirited until you try and sit in their pews. Its easier to preach 10 sermons than it is to live one. People often complain of the filth, violence, cussing and promiscuity they find coming out of their DVD players! When there is a command or verse in the Bible that makes you uncomfortable the Lord didnt ask you to form a committee and vote on it! Those are the 10 Commandments, not the 10 suggestions. Dont put a question mark where God put a period. Coincidence is when God chooses to remain anonymous. God will never take you where the grace of God cannot protect you. The Lord will never make you a leader unless youve proven you can follow.
I love this one and quote it a lot. (I wish I made it up.)
Peoples gifts and talents will often take them where their character cant keep them. Unfortunately there seems to be more and more gifted and talented people who have character issues and/or are not teachable or submitted.
Now I use these quotes myself while ministering the Word of God to help people remember what the Word says. The message, the Good News that Jesus came to save us, heal us and deliver us, never changes but we must be willing to modify the delivery to a certain extent to remain culturally relevant to win the people who are lost in 2011.
However, sometimes ministers or individuals can spend more time in various books or repeating cute quotes rather than quoting scriptures, and I would advise caution and balance in that area.
The Bible tells us in Hebrews 4:12 that The Word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Sometimes we make things a lot more complicated when just the Word of God itself can change peoples lives by convicting people of their sin and bringing forth repentance.
My word about the Word is let the Word be the Word when we need a word to convey the Word. WORD.
