The Mancos Conservation District will hold a series of informative meetings this week to introduce a new option to help control cheatgrass, jointed goatgrass and medusa head weeds known as MB 906.
A meeting in Durango will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the San Juan Public Lands Center, 15 Burnett Court.
On Thursday, a meeting will take place in Mancos at 9:30 a.m. at Mt. Lookout Grange, 680 Grand Ave.; in Cortez at 2 p.m. at the Rec Center, 425 N. Roger Smith Ave.; and at 5 p.m. in Dove Creek at the County Commission Chambers, 409 N. Main St.
MB 906 is a soil inoculant containing a naturally occurring bacteria that helps to inhibit the root growth of cheatgrass, jointed goatgrass and medusa head. People are encouraged to attend one of the meetings to learn about the inoculant, what is required to use it most effectively and the science behind it.
Jeff Chris, a representative of MB 906 supplier BioWest Ag, will present at the meetings.
