Gallegos graduated from Montezuma-Cortez High School in 1984 and enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1989. In those 22 years, Gallegos has served in every leadership position, including squad leader, maintenance section sergeant, platoon sergeant and first sergeant, his service culminating with his assignment as the Black Hawk Helicopter Modifications NCOIC, and his completion of three combat tours to Iraq. His family is extremely proud of their son, father, brother, uncle and cousin. Gallegos is son to Mary Gallegos and the late Tony Gallegos of Cortez and father to Jazmyn Hampton of Cortez, and Shanay and Christopher of Huntsville, Ala. He will continue to reside in Huntsville and work for Redstone Arsenal.
