Dear Editor:
We as individuals are all responsible for the fiasco the country is in right now! We voted for it. We cry for the government to fix all of our problems, whether it is your complaint of a barking dog, or that gas prices are too high. It is not a Democratic nor a Republican fault. We all want someone else to be responsible, and fix it. All of this started a long time ago, way before Obama, way before the Bushes, way back about 1973, when we experienced the original oil embargo. About that time $3/hour was high pay, You could fill your car and get change back from $5. Unions were not that powerful yet, but they sensed that prices were about to start rising, they asked for raises. Those raises were passed on to the consumers, and then all prices, and wages started to rise, about that time, Taxes also started to rise as city, county, and federal governments were needing to grow. The reason was that people wanted them all to do more for them! The banks and financing companies liked it because they, could grow too. It just kept going and feeding on itself!
I remember Ross Perot, on NAFTA, saying that big sucking sound we will hear is all our jobs leaving the country. We elected the other guy!! Now we manufacture very little.
I really do not know how we can ever come back. As I watched the opening ceremony for the Olympics in China, with all the people and technology, I thought, Wow, we may want to start learning Chinese.
