a wonderful assortment of kittens of all shapes and colors can be found at the shelter, and theyre all ready and raring to go to a happy new home. This little black-and-white, neutered male is about 10 weeks old and seriously committed to some playtime. They also have gray and white kittens, black kittens, peanut-butter cup calicos, and a gray tabby. He and other potential companions, including many adult dogs, are available at the Cortez Animal Shelter, 2791 E. Main St. The shelter is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and open every other Friday. The shelter will be closed this Friday, but will be open this Saturday, Aug. 6, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for an adopt-a-thon. This week, the shelter desperately needs pet food due to the high number of kittens, puppies and dogs being housed. They specifically need Iams kitten chow; Iams puppy chow; and Iams, Purina, or Pedigree Adult dog food. The staff and animals greatly appreciate all that donate to the shelter. Thank you for helping our area homeless pets have a chance for a better life. For more information, call the shelter at 565-4910.
