Dennis Leroy was sentenced to 60 days in jail and three years of probation after pleading guilty to misdemeanor unlawful sexual contact Thursday in Montezuma District Court.
District Court Judge Douglas Walker issued the sentence after hearing Leroy read a written apology.
“I’m sorry to the victims,” Leroy told the judge. “I want to show the community I can handle treatment. ... I want the help that’s been given to me.”
He said he wanted to be a role model in the community.
Walker also issued a no-contact protection order on any person under age 18, including Leroy’s own children. Leroy’s case involved two separate incidents involving minors in August 2016.
Two other charges on Leroy – sexual assault on a child and enticement of a child – were dropped. Though Walker said he believed Leroy was “moderately denying” the allegations in the case, he remained optimistic.
“There’s hope for you,” Walker told Leroy. “There’s hope for the victims.”
