Linda Beach will join Mesa Verde National Park as an artist-in-residence.
Beach is a fiber artist whose love of nature is reflected in her work and life, according to a written statement from the park. She has served as the artist-in-residence in Denali National Park, Alaska in 2005, Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado in 2007 and Acadia National Park, Maine in 2008 prior to coming to Mesa Verde.
During her stay in Mesa Verde, she will be giving a free public presentation about her work on Thursday, Sept. 29, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the downstairs library of the Far View Lodge.
Beachs work can be found in numerous private and public collections nationwide. She is a longstanding Professional Artist Member of Studio Art Quilt Associates as well as serving on the board. She has also been featured in several magazines and publications, the most recent being 1000 Artisan Textiles, where her artwork was also on the cover. Beachs work has been juried into several prominent national exhibitions, including Quilt Visions 2008 and 2010 as well as ArtQuilt Elements 2010. Begun during Mesa Verde National Parks 2006 Centennial, the artist-in-residence program provides accomplished writers, composers, and visual and performing artists the opportunity to pursue their particular art form while being surrounded by the inspiring ancient architecture of the Ancestral Pueblo People and the sweeping natural landscape of the park. The park provides a historic, rustic residence to selected participants for four, two-week periods each year.
