A 35-year old woman was found dead Saturday in her Forest Lakes home from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to La Plata County Coroner Jann Smith.
Around 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, La Plata County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Dan Bender said a roommate reported Rachelle Iverson dead at her home north of Bayfield, on Forest Lakes Drive.
Bender said no foul play is suspected. He said authorities are investigating, but initial information indicates it’s likely that the wound from a handgun was self-inflicted.
Smith confirmed that ruling Monday afternoon. She said it’s likely that Iverson died sometime Friday night into Saturday morning.
Smith said when Iverson didn’t get up as usual Saturday morning, her roomate went to check on her and found Iverson dead. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday.
Smith said Iverson’s death marks the seventh suicide in La Plata County this year.
